There are countless bugs out in the world that can be found in all sorts of places. One of the most common insects comes in the form of bed bugs. These insects are normally identified as blood sucking insects that prey on human blood. However, there are other insects that may seemingly be in the category of chinches but are in a whole different category.

Bugs with Bed Bug Traits

The Cimex species, also known as the common bed bug, is essentially attracted to human blood. There are, however, various other insects that share the same qualities and behavior with the chinch bugs. For a person to be able to successfully identify and differentiate these insects, it is essential to gain knowledge on how to positively identify each and every single one. An insect that is similar to the qualities and description of the common bed bug is the tropical bed Bug. However, they are not as many in number than those of its common counterpart.

There are also insects that seem to imitate the eating habits of the common bed bug. Some of these insects also feed on human blood but mainly due to its availability. In some cases, these insects would rather feed on some other source of food but could not seem to have it readily available to them. For this reason, these pests are forced to gain food sources that are most convenient. These parasites, such as the Cimicidae, are essentially found in areas that are not inhabited by humans. However, these creatures unintentionally make their way to human dwellings by means of migration and transportation by various hosts such as food.

The Poultry Bug

One insect that is very much similar to the common bed bugs is that Haemotosiphon Inodorus or known as the poultry bug. This pesky little creature is essentially found in farms, particularly where the ducks, chickens geese are housed. The poultry bug is a nocturnal creature and usually does its feeding activities in the evening. Farmers essentially come in close contact with these pests when they go near the roosting areas of the birds. Once this occurs, these poultry bugs can feed on human blood.

The Easter Bat Bug

One of the more common insects that can be found in dark places such as attics is known as the eastern bat bug. They are naturally called as such since they are normally found in the eastern areas of the United States. These creatures also feed on human blood once it comes into contact with people. Since it can readily be seen in a common household, it is most likely to mistake this pest with the appearance and behavior of the common chinch. Most people think that the pesky little bugs that infest their homes are bed bugs, but they’re really not.

The European Swallow Bug

Another bug that can be mistaken for the common bed bug is the European Swallow Bug. This type of insect essentially preys on the blood of birds but if this particular food source is unavailable, it can migrate and look for other food sources, including human blood. As its name entails, it prefers to feed on the blood of swallow birds, which essentially infest their nests. Due to this, these birds will leave the nest, causing the European swallow bugs to look for other areas such as human homes, and eventually feed on human blood.
